Dormancy is a resting phase of a plant's life cycle with minimum metabolic activity and is developmentally and environmentally regulated. Dormancy is required to overcome the unfavorable condition/period and is a determining factor for crop yields in perennial and some annual crops. We are interested in dissecting the molecular control of signals controlling dormancy and growth in plants with emphasis on underground vegetative tissues (e.g. tubers, corms, bulbs, rhizomes, etc.) and buds in trees belonging to the Himalayan region.
